HI! I'm Melinda Witt and I was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. I went to a private college in Pasadena called Pacific Oaks College where I obtained my BA in Human Development and my teaching credential. After graduating, I was a probation officer for a year. I then began my teaching career at Kern County Superintendent of Schools working at an alternative school called North Kern Community School. There I serviced students ranging in grades from 4th-12th who had been expelled from school. In 2007, I began teaching for Bakersfield City School District at Ramon Garza Elementary as a 4/5 combination teacher as well as teaching the intervention class. From 2008-2013, I taught fourth grade and was on several district committees including: The Leadership Team/Guiding Coalition, BCSD District Common Core Committee, Math TLT Committee, served as Team Lead for 3 years, and was on the School Site Council for 2 years. From 2013-2016, I worked at a brand new school called Douglas Fletcher Elementary and thoroughly enjoyed teaching there as well as building relationships with the students, parents, and staff. This summer, I finally decided to make the move to Southern California and moved to Newport, CA. I then taught a summer program for OCDE at the Anaheim North location as an S1S/Day School teacher servicing students from junior high through high school. Now, I am very excited to be one of the newest teachers at St. Paul Lutheran School!
