Panther Running Club Information
About The Club-
Do you love to run? Do you love to cheer others on? Do you love to work hard? Then come out for Panther Running Club. Running for the glory of God is and will always be what our main focus is. We will have fun practices at school and outside school at local meets.
About The Vision-
 At St. Paul’s we strive to implement a successful athletic program which demonstrates a Christian and enthusiastic attitude. We encourage student-athletes to strive for excellence and to do their best regardless of the outcome of a contest. We teach student athletes to participate as a team which cooperates, supports, and works together. We provide student-athletes an experience in which they can develop leadership skills, self-confidence and poise. Lastly, we encourage and promote school spirit and good sportsmanship.  Panther Running Club strives to be excellent in all these areas. 
About The Practices- 
The Panther Running Club is divided into 4 sessions with 6 practices within each session. The practices will ONLY be held on Wednesdays after school, from 3:10-4:10. We will always meet in front of Room 1B.  
Each Practice will begin with a devotion, inspiration, and prayer. We will always begin by going over what the goal is for practice.  We will continue with warm-ups, dynamic stretching, workout/game, and end with a cool down. The sessions and dates are listed below.

Session 1- Sept. 13th , 20th , 27th; Oct. 4th, 11th, 18th (2017)
Session 2- Nov. 1st, 8th, 29th; Dec. 13th (2017); Jan. 10th, 17th (2018)
Session 3- Jan 31st; Feb. 7th, 21st, 28th; March 7th, 14th (2018)
Session 4- April 11th, 18th, 25th; May 2nd, 9th, 16th (2018)

About The Coach-
Mrs. Jessica Parks teaches first grade and has a deep love for running. She has years of college level training and also competed in the USA Triathlon meets. With this being her second year leading the Panther Running Club, she desires to help young athletes find a love for fitness and a joy for running.  
She has a background in running at elite levels but uses her knowledge of running and training to break down the simplicities of fitness and running for the basic training for the Panther Running Club.  She understands there are many different levels of runners and caters each practice to genuinely meet the runners needs. 
"Running is freeing and the panther running club is a place where kids and coaches can run for the fun feeling of being free, all for the glory of God." 
What if my child has never ran before? New runners are welcome. Running talent will vary and all athletes from beginner to experienced will be challenged and given tools to learn and excel.
How far will they run? Students will build a base and learn form to begin with. Depending on the talent, runners may be able to go on longer runs with supervision. Groups of runners will NEVER RUN ALONE. Runner talent may vary so running distance will vary.
Can my child do this and other sports? Other sports are greatly encouraged but not required. This club meets once a week and other sports help the child keep aerobically fit and build an endurance base, leading to a healthy heart. If you have a conflict with Wednesday, this may be more difficult for the child to feel “apart of the team” because they are missing the practices.
Will they run in severe weather conditions? In severe heat we will cancel outside running and practice will be held inside if possible. We can run in the rain but will not run in heavy rain/thunder/lightening. Practice will be canceled or moved inside if room permits. Guardians will be notified in such cases.
