Is St. Paul's accredited?
St Paul’s Lutheran School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and National Lutheran Schools Accreditation (NLSA).  St. Paul’s received the highest marks attainable by WASC – a six year clear. St. Paul's is the only Lutheran School in Orange County awarded Blue Ribbon Honors by the US Department of Education and was one of only eight Lutheran schools in the nation selected as an Exemplary School by the NLSA in 2014.

How many students attend St. Paul’s Lutheran School?
As of September 2016 there are 435 students enrolled in grades K through 8 at the elementary campus, and 188 students enrolled at the Early Childhood Development Center. 

What is the student teacher ratio?
Kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms are considered full with 24 students. Third, fourth, and fifth grade classrooms are considered full at 25 and sixth through eighth grade classrooms are considered full at 26.  Our student to teacher ratio is roughly 20 to 1 when our specialty teachers and instructional aides are included. We typically have 2 -3 classes per grade.

What are your hours?
We are open from 7:45 am until 4 pm each school day, 8 am to 4pm during school breaks.

TK & Half Day Kindergarten: 8:15am - 12:00pm*

K-4 School Hours: 8:15am - 3:05pm (First Bell rings at 8:00am)

5-8 School Hours: 7:55am - 2:50pm (First Bell Rings at 7:45am)

- Quality Before and After School Care Available from 7:00am - 6:00pm


Do you have a hot lunch program?
Yes, we have a hot lunch program through Choice Lunch.  Students have several choices each day.  For more information about our hot lunch program, please click on the parents pull-down menu from the website and select, "Hot Lunch."


How much does St. Paul’s cost?
It varies by member or non-member status and any special services requested or required.  For more information, please see the Financial Information page.

 

What Kindergarten Programs does St. Paul's offer?

St. Paul's offers three different programs to fit the individual needs of your child including Transitional Kindergarten, Half Day Kindergarten, and Full Day Kindergarten.

Transitional Kindergarten: 

Hours: 8:15am - 12:00pm (with an afternoon enrichment program available)

Intended for students who will be turning 5 years old September 1st - December 2nd of the academic year. Results of the assessment are considered.

Half Day Kindergarten: 

Hours: 8:15am - 12:00pm (with an afternoon enrichment program available)

Students 5 years or older by September 1st of the academic year and who meet the assessment requirements for the kindergarten curriculum.

Full Day Kindergarten: 

Hours: 8:15am - 3:00pm (A 45 minute rest period take place after lunch)

Students 5 years or older by September 1st of the academic year and who meet the assessment requirements for the kindergarten curriculum.

All kindergarten programs participate in weekly Spanish classes, computer lab, library, music & chapel.

Do the children wear uniforms?
Yes, we believe that a student's appearance has a direct impact on his/her attitude and behavior. By "dressing up" for school, the student's show respect for their school community and themselves. The primary purpose of our school uniform is to assure that the students of St. Paul's are neat, clean, and well groomed for all school activities ad are able to focus on the academics instead of the latest trends.

Students wear uniforms that can be purchased through Dennis Uniform, Sports Connection, Target, and JC Penney's. 

They include navy or khaki bottoms (shorts, pants & skirts) and either a navy, royal blue or charcoal grey polo with the St. Paul's logo. Girls may also wear navy jumpers or the plaid jumpers/ skirts purchased through Dennis Uniforms. All students may wear plain white polos as well.

 

Does St. Paul's have a non-discriminatory policy?
All member schools of Orange County Lutheran Principals' Conference admit students of any race, color, or national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools. It does not discriminate on the basis of race or color or national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic and/or other school-administered programs.

What are the qualifications of your teachers?
All of our teachers have completed the requirements to be a teacher at an accredited university and hold a degree in education. Our teaching staff attends annual workshops on classroom management, technology, and various other topics, allowing them to be at the forefront of changes to pedagogy, curriculum, and the use of technology in the classroom. 

Are there classes and programs offered in addition to the standard academic courses?
In addition to the core academic subjects, we offer journalism/yearbook, dance, guitar, business, cooking, student leadership, computer instruction, graphic arts, leadership, STEM, choir, drama, study skills, and band.

Does St. Paul’s participate in league sports?
St. Paul’s 5th through 8th grade students compete in athletics.  Please visit our Athletics web pages for more information.  The following sports are available: volleyball, flag football, basketball, softball, track, cheerleading, and songleading.

How can parents participate in campus activities?
Parents can join the PARTNERS (Parent-Teacher Group) Group or they can contact individual teachers and assist in the classrooms.  Some parents also inquire about becoming campus aides.

Is there a community service requirement?
While we encourage our students to take part in community activities and offer countless ways for students to get involved, we have no formal community service requirement.
